Sorry I haven’t posted this week’s deals.  I’ve actually been a little discouraged because I almost feel like no one benefits from my coupon posts; that they would rather just read the blogs I have linked to mine.  So, that has been the reason for my delay in posting.  I don’t really care how many people read my blog, but I do care that it is helpful to those who do read it.

My mom came to see me for my birthday this past weekend! We had so much fun! We went to the flea market, planted flowers, went couponing together, cooked, etc.  We had a really good visit!!

Tonight I reserved a cabin for Lance and I’s second anniversary coming up at the end of this month!! We are so excited to be able to go!! We are going to stay at the Moonlight Ridge cabin in Gatlinburg, TN.  We promised ourselves when we married that we would always go on an anniversary trip every year to have time for us.  Our honeymoon, and 1st anniversary trip are some of the best memories we have as a couple.  I can’t wait for this next one!!!

Well, Harris Teeter is tripling coupons up to $0.99 this week! That makes many items free!

Feel free to link to my blog about your good deal discoveries this week!

Its finally happened!

I have internet! One night this week, I had all my laundry done, house cleaned, books read, and absolutely nothing to do.  Even more frustrating, was that my phone was malfunctioning so it wasn’t easy to talk to anyone.  I was soooo bored.  Now, I know that I could’ve found productive things to do, but when I’m stuck at home (car malfunctioning too), my options don’t seem like options anymore; they see like the only alternative.  So, I called Lance (it took me 17 phone attempts to do so) and got the number for Comcast.  It’s 1-800-COMCAST; go figure!  I asked the nice lady on the phone how much it would be to get internet in my home.  She said it was $59.99/mo.  Wow, that’s a little steep.  But then she told me that they are running a promotion for basic cable and (wireless!!!) internet for $47.95/mo.  We’ve never bought cable, it’s just not somthing we need! But if it’s cheaper than internet by itself, I’ll take it!  This nice man came two days later and hooked it up for us.  He even gave us his number if we had any questions about it.  It’s been fast, reliable, and oh so entertaining!!  The cable’s another story.  The sound quality is terrible.  It swells and falls constantly, so we’re always adjusting the volume.  It may just be our TV though.  I don’t really care about the cable much.

My husband is so cool.  Tonight on the way home from work he stopped by Kroger (didn’t have them) and then Walmart to get me these:

blue-bunnyThey are awesome! Birthday Cake ice cream with sprinkles and blue icing.  Also, they’re low fat, so I don’t feel guilty about the snack! But what’s even more awesome is my husband who will go get them for me after he gets off work.

Because my phone is bonkers, I’m expecting this phone in the mail tomorrow (thankfully, it was upgrade time!):

new-phone

Yay!! My birthday is on Sunday and I already feel like I have a present!

My mom is coming to Nashville this weekend or my birthday so I might not get a post for next week’s deals until Monday or so.  In light of that, this post is for a few mid-week deals that might tide you over.

Husbandless Weekend

Lance went camping this weekend with his brother Lyle.  Lyle is getting married next month and this is his bachelor party.  I’ve talked to him a couple times and it sounds like he’s having a blast.  I’ve only been away from Lance one other time since our wedding day and that was when he had to go to Boston for work.  I hated that week.  I cried every day and felt like his return would never come.  But this weekend I’ve had fun.  Yes, I miss him, but I’ve been able to do whatever I want! Last night I rented two chick flicks.  This evening I plan on going shopping and cleaning my house with loud music on.  Tomorrow I’ll just sleep in and then do some cooking.  Tomorrow night Lance’s sister and her boyfriend are coming over to watch a movie, so I’m going to make some snacks.  Lance should get home sometime tomorrow afternoon.

I can’t wait until we get our tax refund! We have so many plans for that money.  It was nice to sit down with Lance and discuss exactly how we want to utilize it.  I knew that we needed to have a plan for it before it comes because if we didn’t, we would just see a lot of money and spend it!  Once it comes, one of our plans is to get internet.  I can’t wait! I’ll be able to blog more often and look for a new job!

Another happy note: We got our first electric bill since moving to our new apartment and it was $37!!! The last bill I paid (for our old apartment) was around $270.  I’m LOVING the difference!!  I will never live in a townhouse again! (Unless it has like free rent or something!)

This week’s deals don’t look very promising.  But there are still some things worth going out for.  I’m loving all the free shaving cream I’ve been able to stock up on!

I hold the record!

Dr. Mario

Lance is better than me at most all video games except for one: Dr. Mario.  I rarely take time to play video games at all.  I always have laundry, dishes, cooking, etc. to take care of.  Also, it’s genarally not fun to do something you’re not good at.  But Thursday night, Lance came home to me sitting on the couch playing Dr. Mario. He watched me until I eventually lost and said I was really good.  I thought he was just being nice, but I now hold the record for the highest score on our Wii!  We had a tournament last night to see if either of us could beat my score.  We couldn’t.  Granted, Lance is only 300 points behind me, and I have no doubt that he will eventually surpass that.  For right now, though, I win! Ha!

Not much appeals to me this week as far as deals go.  Hopefully I will discover more through the week.  I’m babysitting overnight on both Tuesday and Wednesday, so not sure if there will be a mid-week post this week.  Maybe I can convince Lance to do that guest-post I’ve been urging him to do 😉

My favorite day!

I recently realized how much I love Saturdays.  From the time I was 15 years old I worked almost every Saturday until last July.  I have always had a job, and being in high school and college, Saturdays were always a must for work.  Now that I provide childcare from my home, working on a Saturday is a rarity.  Lately, because of lack of internet at home, I’ve been coming to work with Lance to work on my coupons and blog.  He works 12p-8p every Saturday, so it gives us one day every week to sleep in, get some extra snuggle time, and spend the whole day together. Our first year of marriage we were both still in college, worked full-time, and never saw each other.  We were both off on Sundays, of course, but that meant we had to get groceries, clean the house, do laundry, do homework, etc.  We never saw each other and it was hard.  We always reminded each other things would eventually get better.  It’s nice to realize they finally have.  I feel very blessed.

I plan to go to CVS, Walgreens, and maybe Harris Teeter tonight.  Next week’s sale ad will usually load into the CVS registers at 6p, so you can get the good deals early.  As for Walgreens and Harris Teeter, I never made in there this week, so I’m trying to get this week’s sales before it resets tomorrow.  The Publix sales I listed in the previous post don’t end until 4/11, so I’ve got a little time there.

If you ever like to buy multiple Sunday newspapers to get extra coupons, this is the week to do it!! There are two Red Plum inserts, two Smart Source inserts, and one P&G insert.  Five booklets of coupons for the $1.70 it cost to buy a paper.  Wow! I’m going to get at least two!

There are a couple coffee deals coming up.  On April 6th, you can get a free small coffee at Seattle’s Best Cafes celebrating their 39th anniversary! And on April 21, get an iced coffee at Dunkin Donuts for $.50! This will help raise money for “Homes for Our Troops!”  What better to go with coffee than some free cinnamon bites from Cinnabon on Tax Day (April 15th) between the hours of 5-8p (while supplies last).

Go here for a couple of Joann Fabric coupons.  My mom loves this store!

Apparently, Walmart has Ultra Sheer Pantyhose priced for about $1. Use the $1 SS coupon from 3/29 and get them free! You’ll have to pay tax of course. Then, there is a $1 coupon inside so you can do this again!  I, however, hate pantyhose with everything in my being, but this might be a good deal for some of you!   🙂
