I’m going to try a new recipe this week.  It looks really good:

Baked Oatmeal

1 cup oil (can substitute butter or applesauce)
1 ½ cups sugar (can reduce)
4 eggs
6 cups oats
4 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
2 cups milk

Combine all ingredients in order listed. Pour into greased 9×13-inch pan. Bake at 375° for 30-40 minutes until lightly browned. Can refrigerate overnight before baking. Serve topped with butter, brown sugar, and milk.

Yields: Approximately 8-10 servings

Thanks Money Saving Mom!

Internet at the our apartment is not going to happen for a while.  It’s inconvenient, but it’s what has to be.  So, I get access to it at least once a week, and hopefully twice.  Because of this, my blog posts have to encompass a lot! So here’s everything and the kitchen sink:

Tomorrow you can get a free Thomas Wooden Train at Toys ‘R’ Us with this coupon.

We have had a few problems in our new apartment’s kitchen.  The fridge went bad and they replaced the thermostat in it, one of the track lights (UGLY!) didn’t work and that’s been fixed, the dishwasher was not draining and is now fixed, and then today the guy came to fix my leaky kitchen sink.  I always like Lance to be there when this stuff happens, but he was at work, and I had no idea the guy was coming!  Jaci was taking a nap and so after I put a load of laundry in the washer and folded another, I had decided to doze for a moment.  I awoke suddenly to banging on the front door and a key turning.  After I dazily realized who it was, I let the maintenance guy in.  He talked to himself the whole time! And I mean, not like quiet muttering which I consider to be thinking out loud, he was having a full-on conversation! When Lance is here, he just talks about guy stuff to him, but I didn’t know how to respond.  I just sat on my couch and pretended to be engrossed in a book.  I was glad when he left.

If you find any good deals throughout the week, please post them in a comment so that we can all enjoy! Happy shopping!

I married an Irishman!

Today was Lance’s birthday! We couldn’t afford to do a whole lot, but it was fun anyway! He got the day off and we hung around the house.  I made him green eggs for breakfast:

Green Eggs

And we both enjoyed some of the green cupcakes I made yesterday.  I decorated them with green, white, and orange icing to represent the colors of the Irish flag:

Green Cupcakes

I even made him blow out candles.  I didn’t buy 25 of them, but you get the picture:

This has been the fourth birthday I’ve been able to share with Lance.  He is my best friend and each day with him is better than the last!

Happy Birthday, Love!!!

Publix, CVS, Walmart

I’ve had the flu all weekend and didn’t think I was going to get to go shopping today, but I finally felt better and it was good to get out of the house! I found a few more deals than expected and although I didn’t get much, it was still a good trip!

At CVS they had Irish Spring Body Wash and Colgate Max White toothbrushes free after ECB.  I also had a $4 off $20 purchase coupon that I got in my e-mail for signing up at the CVS website.  I had to purchase a filler item to reach the $20 so why not buy some Reese’s Peanut Butter Eggs? I also paid with ECB at CVS so my total was $.42 and I received $10 ECB back!

At Walmart I needed to get some icing to make my husband a birthday cake and they had peelie coupons on the side of the cans for $.25 off, so that was helpful as well!

Total Value: $37.19

Total OOP: $6.13

Total Savings: $31.06 or 84%

For those of you who bought the Glade Lasting Impressions last week, there is a couple coupons inside that when combined with the deal at CVS this week, equals a great deal on Scented Oil Refills! They are on sale 4/$10, you get $3 ECB back making them 4/$7 and then if you use 4 of the $1 coupons inside the boxes, that would make them 4/$3! Great deal! I didn’t get any today but I might later.

Don’t forget to buy (or subscribe) to your local Sunday paper and the All You (Walmart) magazine for great coupons!

A few deals for next week

$2 in ECB wyb 2 Pantene Shampoo, Conditioner or Styler for $7 – $1/2 Pantene coupon in PG 3/1.  Buy shampoo and conditioner, get free styler PG 3/15.  Total $6 for all 3 items, receive $2 in ECB

A note: I tried to get some great Walmart deals last week and not one of them worked out.  I find that not all cashiers are learned on Walmart’s coupon policy.  Some frugal shoppers suggest taking a copy of the coupon policy with you when you go.  I’m not one of those, but just a warning that the deals might not work.

Danimals Crush Cups Yogurt $2 – $1 coupon in 3/1 SS = $1

Ken’s Salad Dressing $1.78 – $2/1 in 3/8 SS = Free plus overage

These are all the deals that I’ve found so far.  Not a good outlook for the things I need.  For more deals visit Southern Savers, Fiddledeedee, and Frugal Coupon Mom.

I was hoping for a good deal on some meat and produce items.  Our refrigerator died in our new apartment and I lost a lot of frozen hamburger, frozen chicken, all our condiments, eggs, sandwich meat and cheese, milk…everything basically.  It has been a really frustrating thing to deal with the past couple days.  I’m considering asking the apartment complex for reimbursement for all that food but I’m not sure if that’s a possibility.  So, for supper, Lance and I just had a sandwich.  Which is okay, unless that’s your only option, and then its just bland.

If you have any good deals to add, feel free to post a comment!

Still here…

Still trying to get internet at the new place.  We went to Electronic Express because I have found that Clearwire (to the best of my knowledge) is the cheapest.  Yesterday I chatted with a Clearwire associate online to find out what I need to do.  She said that I needed to find a local Clearwire dealer to find out if my zip code is within the service area.  Hence, Electronic Express visit.  They were absolutely no help whatsoever!

AM = Assistant Manager who knows nothing.

K = Me

L = Lance

AM = Hello, how can I help you today?

L = Well, we were just looking into getting some Clearwire internet.

AM = (points to Clearwire Kiosk)

K = (confused look)

L = Okay

AM = Well, what type are you looking for?

K = We want wireless with a router.

AM = (opens up cabinet below Kiosk, pulls out a box that says “Talk Faster with Clearwire!, clearly an attachment for phone service.) Let me see if this is the right card. (Walks up to the desk)

L&K = Okay (follow him)

AM = Okay, what’s your  zip code?

K = 37209

AM = Well, it says here that your area may not be covered and you need to contact a dealer to find out, that would be us.

K = Mmhmm.

AM = Well, have you considered getting USB internet, maybe you should contact your cell-phone provider.

K = We want a router so that we can have more than one computer be able to access it.

AM = Yeah, well we don’t have any routers left.

K = Can you get one transferred?

AM = Hmm let’s see… (names 3 different Electronic Expresses that are in stock).  You could try to go to one of those places.  But, to be honest, I would recommend getting some other internet.  Clearwire is so slow. (Another associate walks up) To him:  Well, you know I’m just trying to be honest with the customer.

L =  (to me, from corner of mouth) Let’s go.

K = Okay well thanks.

AM = Good luck with that!

K = (once outside) Comcast it is!

L = Yeah.

It was fun to say the least.  I’m now at the library with Lance to check my e-mail and write a small post.  Unfortunately, I can’t print any coupons here because these computers block the coupon printing software.

Hopefully this problem will be solved soon, but until then, I’ve left my printer at the old apartment and will post next week’s deals this weekend for sure!

Busy Day

Today is moving day! We have been very busy! Thankfully Lance is getting help moving the big stuff, while I’m at home packing up some last minute things.  I’m also trying to figure out how to get internet at our new place.  I’ve never had to purchase it before.  There have always been a couple public ones within range.  Hopefully this won’t impact my blog posts for more than a couple of days.
